Another Miss Universe Philippines 2024 candidate has withdrawn from the pageant.

Miss Universe Philippines Angeles City announced Joanne Marie Thornley's decision to withdraw from the pageant after she faced health challenges that prevented her from attending earlier activities. 

This is the second time that a candidate has withdrawn from the competition. On Feb. 22, Natasha Jung of the municipality of Kananga withdrew from the same pageant for personal reasons. Phoebe Arianna Veloso Torita replaced Natasha.

"With a heavy heart, The Miss Universe Philippines - Angeles City announces the decision of Joanne Thornley to withdraw from the Miss Universe Philippines pageant. Joanne has faced health challenges which prevented her from attending earlier activities. Her health concerns required her to prioritize her well-being above all else.

"We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Miss Universe Philippines organization, sponsors, and all the creatives who have poured their hearts into this endeavor. Your dedication to empowering women is truly commendable. Please continue to extend your support and encouragement to the remaining contestants as they embark on this remarkable journey.

"As for our Angeleños and supporters, we are incredibly grateful for all the love and encouragement we have received while Joanne represented our beloved Angeles City in the Miss Universe Philippines pageant. We will forever cherish this unwavering support in our hearts. With gratitude and warm regards, MUPH Angeles City."
