Wanky bares accomplishment as Western Visayas top cop


ILOILO CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky revealed his one-month accomplishment as Police Regional Office-6 (Western Visayas) chief on Monday, March 18.

“As of the past month, under my leadership, together we have made significant strides in combating drugs and other criminal activities,” said Wanky who assumed the post on February 19.

“I admire and salute our operatives. We will continue to work tirelessly to uphold the law and protect the welfare of our beloved Western Visayas,” said Wanky in a press conference.

Police seized illegal drugs worth P46.12 million from February 15 to March 15.

Lawmen arrested 259 drug suspects during 201 anti-drug operations in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.

Four-hundred eight-eight wanted persons were arrested –  72 most wanted persons (MWPs) and 416 other wanted persons (OWPs).

A total of 284 firearms and 45 explosives were seized and 47 individuals were apprehended in 300 operations in the campaign against illegal firearms.

In the campaign against illegal gambling, 442 suspects were nabbed in 114 operations and 214 suspects were caught in 79 operations against illegal fishing.

The PRO-6 also registered accomplishments as support law enforcement agency of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the anti-insurgency campaign.
