Title favorites AP.Bren and ECHO came out unscathed at the end of the opening week of the MPL Philippines Season 13 after sweeping their respective foes on Sunday, March 17, at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

The defending champion AP.Bren swept TNC, 2-0, while ECHO did the same against Smart Omega as both teams claimed the top spot of the standings with similar 2-0 records with full six points apiece.
Dominant were the Bees right from the get go as they completed the sweep with no game going more than 13 minutes against the Phoenix.
Kyle “Kyletzy” Sayson led the charge in the opening game with a 4-0-8 line on the Baxia while roamer Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo set the table with his Mathilda pick with a 0-0-11 line as AP.Bren completed a 12-0 kill score.
The M5 world champions didn’t slow down in the second game and went on to close out the series with a 16-6 win with David “Flaptzy” Canon showing the way on his X-borg pick with a 7-1-8 line.
In the nightcap, it was Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya who shone bright as the Karltzy and BennyQT-less ECHO thumped Smart Omega.
Sanford and Alston “Sanji” Pabico rescued the Orcas from the fangs of defeat as they went for the split push after a messy team fight at the 27th minute mark of the contest.
The two caught Omega napping as it tried to recover HP from the clash, allowing the Sanford on the Benedetta and Sanji on the Novaria to take down the base and complete the come-from-behind 9-17 win.
Momentum completely swung to ECHO’s favor from then on as Sanford spearheaded the 9-6 Game 2 win with a 5-3-3 line on the Yu Zhong pick.
Aside from ECHO and AP.Bren, Onic Philippines also picked up a 2-0 victory over RSG Philippines to finally barge into the win column.
Duane “Kelra” Pillas finally lived up to his billing scoring a triple kill late in the opening game before completely taking over in the second game as Onic bounced back from a loss in its season debut.
