Police net taxi driver in Benguet buy-bust

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A suspected drug pusher was arrested and shabu valued at P10,000 was seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Beckel here on March 15.

Police said the suspect was a 44-year-old male taxi driver listed as a high-value individual from Baguio City. 

The suspect was arrested by joint operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Division, La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group-Cordillera, and Regional Intelligence Unit-14 after he sold one sachet of suspected shabu weighing one gram with a standard drug price of P6,800 to police poseur-buyer.

Two more sachets of shabu valued at P3,400 were recovered from his possession. 

Markings and inventory of pieces of evidence were conducted on-site in the presence of a media representative, Darius Bajo, and Kagawad (councilor) Fred Aniban of Barangay Beckel Central. 

The suspect faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
