The Las Piñas City government conducted the 11th Inter-Barangay Fire Olympics at the City Hall grounds last Saturday, March 16, to promote fie safety awareness and preparedness in the community.
The activity was attended by Vice-Mayor April Aguilar, Las Piñas City Fire Marshall Supt. Melchor Isidro, and Las Piñas chief of police, Col. Sandro Tafalla.
Aguilar said teams from the barangays engaged in drills that simulated fire emergencies and their effective management.

She also praised Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) officers and volunteers for their unwavering dedication and especially for their efforts in responding to and managing the several fire incidents in the city.
The vice-mayor highlighted the critical role of firefighters in not only addressing fires, but also in educating the community about fire prevention, especially with the upcoming summer season, which historically sees an increase in fire incidents.
Aguilar said the 11th Inter-Barangay Fire Olympics also aimed to educate participants and spectators alike on effective firefighting techniques and rapid response during emergencies.
She added that in conducting the event, the city stays committed to ensuring the safety and preparedness of its residents against fires.
