Lakas-CMD stalwarts in House now close to 100 after oath-taking of Visayas solons

The dominant political party in the House of Representatives, the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), is closing in on its 100th member in the chamber in this 19th Congress.
This, after House Speaker Martin Romualdez administered on Monday afternoon, March 18 the oath-taking of three lawmakers from Visayas as new members of the party.
Welcomed into the fold of the Lakas-CMD by party president Romualdez were Leyte 5th district Rep. Carl Nicolas Cari, Samar 2nd district Rep. Reynolds Michael Tan, and Cebu 1st district Rep. Rhea Mae Gullas.
The three solons were the the 95th, 96th, and 97th members of the Lakas-CMD in the House.
“With your wealth of experience, dedication to public service, and unwavering principles, I am confident that your presence will further strengthen our ranks and contribute significantly to our shared vision of progress and unity,” Romualdez, Leyte's 1st district congressman, said in his simple message during the oath-taking rites.
“Your decision to align with Lakas-CMD underscores the party's steadfast commitment to championing the interests and aspirations of the Filipino people,” he added.
Cari came from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), while Tan and Gullas were erstwhile Nacionalista Party (NP) stalwarts.
Majority Leader Zamboanga City 2nd district Rep. Manuel Jose “Mannix Dalipe” and former president, Pampanga 2nd district Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo witnessed the oath-taking of the three new party members.
Speaker Romualdez said he is heartened by the unity and solidarity within Lakas-CMD as they continue to navigate together the challenges and opportunities facing the nation.
“Together, we will work tirelessly with the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to address the pressing issues confronting our country and to fulfill our mandate of serving the Filipino people with integrity, compassion, and excellence,” Romualdez said.
