The city government’s award-winning program is called Comprehensive Approach Responsive Education and Rehabilitation (CARER), an education and livelihood initiative by the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO).
Beneficiaries of the program include blind and deaf learners, as well as persons with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, down syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy.
“Ang pagkilalang ito ay para sa lahat ng mga mamamayan at lalong-lalo na sa mga minamahal nating PWDs na buong-puso nating sinusuportahan ang inyong pag-unlad, dahil sa Carmona, walang sino man ang maiiwan dahil Dapat Angat Lahat (This recognition is for all citizens, especially for our beloved PWDs, whom we wholeheartedly support in your development, because in Carmona, no one will be left behind because everyone should be uplifted),” Loyola wrote in a Facebook post.
The city government’s programs for PWDs also include a home for PWDs who do not have relatives who could support them and a local coffee shop manned by deaf persons and persons with Down syndrome.
