SPD to deploy more policemen in observance of Semana Santa

The Southern Police District (SPD) said more policemen will be deployed to strategic places to ensure the safety and security of the people in observance of “Semana Santa”.
The SPD is set to boost its presence with more police personnel across various key areas aiming to facilitate a peaceful observance of “Semana Santa.”
The SPD said 334 policemen will be stationed in worship places to safeguard and ensure security and comfort during the religious gathering.
The SPD also said 89 police officers will be deployed to major thoroughfares to manage traffic flow and respond immediately to any emergencies that may arise and 112 will be stationed at transport hubs and terminals within the southern part of Metro Manila to provide assistance to travelers and maintain the peace and order.
The SPD added commercial areas such as malls will also be manned by 95 policemen to deter criminal activities and ensure the safety of shoppers and business owners and 296 law enforcers will be assigned to other places of convergence where large gatherings are expected to reinforce security measures.
A one-stop-shop help desk will be set up SPD-wide to be manned by 39 personnel and a total of 2,402 police personnel will be deployed to concentrate on border control points, law enforcement checkpoints, foot patrols, mobile/motorcycle patrols, and the implementation of the Red Team inspection.
A reactionary standby support force for immediate deployment ensuring swift response to any emerging security situations.
The SPD said through proactive measures and collaborative efforts with various stakeholders, the police are confident in providing a secure environment for everyone to observe “Semana Santa” peacefully.
