Man arrested after trying to attack neighbor in Tondo
A 35-year-old man was arrested by the operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) after trying to attack his neighbor in Tondo, Manila on Sunday, March 17.
MPD identified the suspect as Jaime Mata, a resident of Tondo, Manila.
The suspect was arrested after his 33-year-old victim reported him to the patrolling officers in the area, stating that the suspect was armed with a knife and tried to attack him.
According to the victim, he was just sitting outside his house at around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, when he saw the suspect shouting and making a commotion around their area.
The suspect then started to approach the victim and asked him if he was brave enough to get into a fistfight with him.
When the suspect was about to get near him, the victim immediately ran away to ask for assistance from the patrolling officers.
Police said the suspect was still carrying the knife when they responded.
They immediately approached the suspect and arrested him.
They recovered from his possession the kitchen knife.
Authorities added that the victim said the suspect was allegedly under the influence of drugs.
The arrested suspect is now detained at MPD-Delpan Police Station (PS-12) and will face charges of alarm and scandal and illegal possession of deadly weapons.
