Hot, humid weather to persist due to easterlies
'Amihan' not affecting any parts of the archipelago
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, March 17, said the easterlies, which bring hot and humid weather in the country will continue to prevail.

In PAGASA’s latest live broadcast, weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said the easterlies became the dominant weather system while the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan” did not have any effect on the archipelago.
“For the next two days, magpapatuloy itong mainit at maalinsangang panahon sa malaking bahagi ng bansa na dulot ng easterlies o iyong hangin na nanggagaling sa Kagaratang Pasipiko. Asahan pa rin iyong mataas na maximum temperature kadalasan sa tanghali hanggang sa hapon sa Luzon area (For the next two days, hot and humid weather will persist in huge parts of the country due to the easterlies. Expect high maximum temperature mostly at noon time until the afternoon in Luzon area),” Villamil said.
However, Villamil added the surge of the cold “amihan” winds will be felt again on Wednesday, March 20 in Luzon.
“Kaakibat ng paglakas ng “amihan” ay ang pagbaba ng temperatura, iyong maximum na temperatures sa hapon posibleng bumaba sa susunod na tatlong araw at kaakibat din nito iyong pagbaba ng mga thunderstorm activities (Alongside the re-strengthening of “amihan” is the lowering of temperature, the maximum temperatures in the afternoon may decrease in the next three days, and the thunderstorm activities will also decrease),” he added.
PAGASA said from March 18 to 20, the actual air temperatures in some key areas are as follows: Metro Manila (24°C to 32°C); Baguio City (14°C to 24°C); Legazpi City (24°C to 32°C); Davao City (24°C to 34°C); Cebu City (24°C to 32°C); Iloilo City (24°C to 32°C); Tacloban City (24°C to 32°C); Cagayan de Oro (24°C to 32°C); and Zamboanga (24°C to 34°C).
In the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Aurora will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in the affected area in times of moderate to heavy rains.
In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms will be felt
