Gang member arrested after robbing couple in Malate, Manila

A gang member was arrested, while two suspects are still being sought after by police after they robbed a couple in Malate, Manila on Saturday, March 16.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the arrested suspect as Adrian Bautista, 26, a resident of Malate, Manila, and a member of the "Bahala na Gang."

Authorities said the two suspects at large were identified as Oliver Gernale and Haixano Pytal, both residents of Malate, Manila.

Investigation disclosed that the couple was walking along Quirino Avenue in Malate around 8:30 p.m. when the suspects suddenly approached them.

The victim said one of the suspects blocked him and his girlfriend, and pointed a knife at his stomach.

The suspects then declared a hold-up and forcibly took his sling bag containing his phone and wallet with identification and ATM cards.

The couple managed to catch the attention of the police deployed in the area, which led to the arrest of one of the suspects.

Police also tried to chase the two other suspects but they fled in an unknown direction.

Investigators said only a 14-inch knife was recovered from the arrested suspect.

The victim said the stolen belongings were worth P12,000, excluding the ATM cards.

Authorities are still conducting a manhunt operation to locate the suspects.
