ACT Teachers Party-List Rep. France Castro says that Vice President Sara Duterte's apparent coddling of controversial Pastor Apollo Quiboloy sets a bad example for Filipinos.

In a statement Sunday, March 17, Castro wondered out loud whether or not Duterte knew about the serious criminal charges that had been lodged against the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) church leader.

"Hindi ba alam ni Vice President Duterte ang sandamukal na mga kaso ni Quiboloy sa dito at sa ibang bansa? Kahit nasa ibang bansa; yung women and child abuse, may mga involve pa na mga pag-eexport ng mga baril etc.," said the Makabayan solon.

(Isn't Vice President Duterte aware about the glut of cases that Quiboloy is facing here and abroad? Even in another country, there's women andn child abuse, there's also alleged exportation of guns, etc.)

"So parang napakasamang ehemplo ang pinapakita ni Vice President Duterte dahil sa tingin natin ay coddler siya ni Quiboloy," added Castro, a deputy minority leader in the House of Representatives.

(So it seems like Vice President Duterte is setting a very bad example because we think she is Quiboloy's coddler.)

Adding insult to injury for the teacher-solon is the fact that Duterte is the concurrent Department of Education (DepEd) secretary.

"Hindi dapat ginagawa ito ng isang vice president at secretary ng Department of Education, otherwise kung gagawin niya ito, ay dapat hindi siya nasa department," she added.

(A vice president and DepEd secretary shouldn't do this, otherwise, if she does, then she shouldn't be in the department.)

"My unsolicited advice to VP [Sara Duterte] that the least that she could do is to advice his friend Pastor Quiboloy to attend the hearings of the Senate and the HoR  as well as face his alleged criminal offenses in court here and abroad," Castro concluded.

Quiboloy is the spiritual adviser of the vice president's father, former president Rodrigo Duterte.

The pastor is facing before the Department of Justice (DOJ) cases of sexual abuse of a minor and qualified human trafficking.

In the United States (US), Quiboloy is charged with conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking, sex trafficking of children, sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, conspiracy, and ulk cash smuggling.
