UST completes rare first round sweep with rout of Adamson

The Golden Tigresses kept their record unblemished in seven games for the solo lead to further bolster their campaign, with rookie Angge Poyos flexing her might anew after posting 18 points all from attacks.

Jonna Perdido and Regina Jurado also delivered 16 and 12 points, respectively, in UST’s balanced showing.

Despite four players finishing in double figures for Adamson with Ishie Lalongisip pacing the losing end with 14 markers, UST was simply the better side in the four-set encounter.

With the loss, the Lady Falcons wound up in a three-game losing slump for a sorry 2-5 record in the standings.

Trailing by two in the fourth frame, Poyos’ maturity exceeded expectations as she unleashed three straight points to give the España squad its best start in the Final Four era.
