The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, March 16, said it recorded dangerous heat indices in two areas in the country.

PAGASA said a heat index of 47°C was experienced in Virac, Catanduanes, while a heat index of 42°C was felt in Cotabato City, Maguindanao.
The weather bureau warned the public in these areas that heat cramps and heat exhaustion is possible, while continuous exposure may lead to heat stroke.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said “extreme caution” is needed in most of the country where continuing activity could also lead to heat stroke.
In Metro Manila, a heat index of 34°C and 36°C was experienced in Science Garden, Quezon City, and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), respectively.
