NAIA concessionaires excited on San Miguel Corporation takeover

Some of the concessioners at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have expressed optimism in the looming takeover of San Miguel Corp. (SMC) in the operation of the country's main gateway.

In a forum organized by the Airport Press Club, dnata Philippines Chief Margaret L. Yu said they are excited on what the new management could bring to the NAIA.

“We are excited to see what SMC can bring. As for me, I’ve been here since 1991. This is the exciting time, we will see something good for the Filipino people, especially the traveling people who, at the end of the day, will be the ones who will benefit,” said Yu.

Yu said that there are areas at the airport that require improvement, including the limited capacity when it comes to ground handling works.

She then stressed the positive impact once a modern airport is comleted.

The Department of Transportation is expected to sign the agreement on the takeover which would pave the way to the start of management of San Miguel Corporation in September this year.
