Chargers back in the mix, smother Chameleons

The Chargers showcased relentless offense and formidable net defense from the start, parlaying the Chameleons’ errors to maintain their dominance throughout the match, their cohesive performance resulting in a comprehensive victory that lasted 82 minutes.

The win tied Akari with idle Farm Fresh at seventh with 2-3 marks. Meanwhile, the loss marked Nxled’s fourth defeat against a win, dropping the Chameleons to a tie with Galeries Tower Highrisers and Capital1 Solar Spikers.

Middles Fifi Sharma and Ced Domingo led Akari’s charge with 13 and 12 points, respectively, while top hitter Grethcel Soltones came up with 10 markers, and Dindin Manabat and Faith Nisperos scored eight points apiece.

Michelle Cobb also orchestrated the team’s play with precision, finishing with 14 excellent sets and adding three points to bag the game’s top honors.

Akari’s control extended to its performance at the net where they recorded 41 attack points compared to Nxled’s 31, and the Chargers registered 12 blocks, including six from Sharma, while their opponents managed only three.

Lycha Ebon fired 11 points, while May Luna finished with eight markers, Camille Victoria and Jaila Atienza chipped in five points apiece, and Jho Maraguinot made four markers.

But Ivy Lacsina, who scored 17 points in Nxled’s win over Galeries Tower last Tuesday, struggled for two points.

The victory not only re-energized Akari’s campaign but also prepared the Chargers for a challenging match against the unbeaten Choco Mucho Flying Titans in their upcoming game next Saturday.
