CONNER, Apayao – A soldier died and a driver and his two helpers were injured in a collision between a motorcycle and a mini-dump truck in Sitio Turayok, Barangay Buluan, Conner, Apayao on Wednesday, March 13.

Police Capt. Rexton Longey, chief of police here, identified the victim as motorcycle driver Job Bayeng, 31, a member of the 98th Infantry Battalion and a resident of Bontoc, Mountain Province.
Investigation disclosed that Bayeng was driving his motorcycle on his way to camp in Kabugao, Apayao when the mini-dump truck loaded with 22 heads of pigs occupied his lane, resulting in a head-on collision.
Longey said the driver of the mini-dump truck, Homer Doroteo, 36, a resident of Rizal, Kalinga, and his two helpers from Cauayan City, Isabela, were injured. They were taken to a hospital where two of them were declared out and danger and the other is still undergoing treatment.
