Mangarap, magtagumpay, manindigan: Pamantasan ng Pasig marks 24th anniversary

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) kicked off its week-long celebration of its 24th anniversary that includes a sports festival, cheer dance competition, and Gawad Parangal to honor the loyalty and service of select faculty and staff.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, together with other city government officials, attended the celebration as the students showcased their talents through Spoken Word Poetry with the theme "Mangarap, Magtagumpay, Manindigan", a flash mob, and the PLP chant featuring the PLP Himig Chorale, Pasigyaw, and selected university students

Sotto lauded the PLP officials for expanding and improving the university's quality of education, Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo for ensuring free education at PLP, Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski and the council members for their continuous support, Committee on Education Chairperson Corie Raymundo, a member of the PLP Board of Regents (BoR), other BoR members, and the PLP leadership under Dr. Glicerio Maningas.

The mayor also paid tribute to the professors and teachers at PLP for the high level of education they provide and expressed his pride in the students by saying that they are not just the future of the university or Pasig City, but also the future of the country.

"Nandito lang po kami kasama ninyong nangangarap; kasama po ninyo kami na patuloy na manindigan; at sama-sama po tayo sa tagumpay (We are here for you in reaching your dreams, we are here continuously supporting you on your beliefs and aspirations, and we are here with you till you reach success)," Sotto said.

"Huwag kayong matatakot mangarap dahil mayroon kayong mga lider na kayang manindigan at sasamahan kayo hanggang sa maabot ninyo ang inyong mga pangarap at magtagumpay (Don't be afraid to dream because you have leaders who are prepared to stand by you and join you till you reach your dreams and aspirations)," Jaworski said.

“As we celebrate another year of our Inang Pamantasan, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to delivering excellence in education. Our dedication to providing students with quality learning experiences remains steadfast as we continue to pave the path towards a brighter future for Pasig and the whole country,” Maningas noted.

This year’s celebration is a prelude to the university’s 25th year in 2025, during which new developments and programs will be revealed in the coming months.
