The Lexus model lineup is expanding, and the newest vehicle to join the family is the LBX. The new LBX stands for 'Lexus Breakthrough X (cross)-over' and it aims to offer the same quality, craftsmanship and enjoyable driving of its stablemates but in the smallest form yet.
Designed to appeal to younger, city-smart drivers who like luxury with a more casual feel, the LBX is a premium vehicle intended to be enjoyed in jeans and sneakers. Buyers will be attracted by the eye-catching exterior design, the premium look and feel of the cabin and the performance and efficiency of the new self-charging hybrid electric powertrain.
It offers compact dimensions and a great all-round view from the steering wheel to be perfectly at home and highly manoeuvrable on city streets. Despite being diminutive, the car is built on a new platform that’s been engineered to give the ride and drive quality expected of a luxury car.
The LBX bears a completely new take on Lexus’ famous spindle grille, called the "Unified Spindle." Its body bears muscular haunches housing the wheels. Inside, the look is clean, open and refined with a focused cockpit for the driver.
The interior was designed with the Tazuna concept in mind, allowing driver quick and intuitive access to the main controls and information sources with smallest head, eye and hand movements. Items such as the multimedia display, shift lever, instrument meters and steering wheel controls are arranged in a close, coherent sweep around the driver, while maximising the field of vision through the windscreen.

Drivers get a new 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. In the center is a 9.8-inch touchscreen with an anti-reflective coating serves as the infotainment interface. Naturally, there’s also smartphone connectivity, done via wired or wireless connection. A premium sound system is paired with the infotainment to complete the aural experience.
Powering it is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that still produces a total of 136-hp and 185-Nm despite its size. The engine is paired with a self-charging hybrid electric system that uses the latest technologies to deliver strong performance with great fuel economy and low emissions. Drivers can expect the hybrid to return a fuel efficiency rating reaching up to 22.72 km/L.
When it comes to safety, the LBX has just the same protection and driver help from Lexus Safety System + systems as its larger sister models. The technology may sound complex, but it’s engineered to work in a way that feels natural and reassuring.
Finally, rather than offering trim levels or grades, the LBX will be offered in a choice of themes, with a buyers able to choose styling details, colors, textures, and finishes.
The all-new LBX is available for pre-order at Lexus Manila. Cars will be delivered to customers starting March 18, 2024.
