The Pasay City police conducted a lecture on laws for women, which was attended by barangay officials and residents in Barangay 152 on Friday, March 15.
Pasay City police chief Col. Mario Mayames said the program was held in line with the celebration of “Women’s Month.”
The lecture focused on the provisions of special laws that address the critical aspects of protecting women and children rights, and protection against all forms of gender-based violence.
He said discussed during the lecture were the anti-rape law; violence against women and children; gender-based sexual harassment in streets, public spaces, online, workplace and educational of training institutions; online child sexual abuse; and exploitation of children.
A lecture on anti-terrorism and illegal drugs was also conducted to empower women in the community to become advocates against insurgency and illegal drugs.
Mayames said a workshop on charcoal making was also held to provide residents in the community alternative source of income.
Residents who will engage in charcoal making will earn extra and save money by using recycled materials that are already available in their households.
