The Civil Service Commission (CSC) said the application period for the Fire Officer Examination (FOE), Penology Officer Examination (POE), and Basic Competency on Local Treasury Examination (BCLTE) will run from March 4 to April 3.

“We are pleased to announce the upcoming administration of the FOE, POE, and BCLTE across 16 regions nationwide, offering opportunities for individuals aspiring to serve in crucial roles as fire officers, penology officers, local treasurers, and assistant local treasurers. We urge applicants to promptly submit their applications, as they will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis,” said CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles.

However, he pointed out that acceptance of applications may close even before the deadline, once the CSC Regional Office or Field Office has already reached the target number of applicants for the FOE, POE, and BCLTE.

The exams are scheduled for June 2, 2024.

Based on CSC’s examination announcement, applicants for the FOE and POE must strictly meet the following qualifications: Filipino citizen; at least 21 to 35 years old (for FOE), and at least 18 years old (for POE) on the date of filing of application; mentally and physically fit; has good moral character; has not been convicted by final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude, or of disgraceful or immoral conduct, dishonesty, examination irregularity, drunkenness, or addiction to drugs; has not been dishonorably discharged from military service, or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government; and at least 1.57 meters (5’2) in height for male, and 1.52 meters (5’0) for female.

Interested takers of the FOE must also possess a baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution of learning, while those who would take the POE must have at least graduated from the K-12 program or a high school graduate under the old program.

Meanwhile, the CSC said applicants for the BCLTE must meet the following requirements: Filipino citizen; at least 18 years old on the date of filing of application; has good moral character; has not been convicted by final judgement of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude, or disgraceful or immoral conduct, dishonesty, examination irregularity, drunkenness, or addiction to drugs; has not been dishonorably discharged from military service, or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government; and has a bachelor’s degree on the date of filing of application.

CSC said applicants for any of the three exams should submit the following requirements: fully accomplished application form (appropriate CS Form No. 100); four pieces of identical passport size ID pictures with name tag (read the examination advisory for the complete specifications); original and photocopy of any of the following accepted ID cards: Driver’s License/Temporary Driver’s License/Student Driver’s Permit; Passport; PRC License; SSS ID; GSIS ID (UMID); Voter’s ID/Voter’s Certification; BIR ID (ATM type/TIN card type with picture); PhilHealth ID (must have the bearer’s name, clear picture, signature and PhilHealth number); Company/Office ID; School ID; Police Clearance/Police Clearance Certificate; Postal ID; Barangay ID; NBI Clearance; Seaman’s Book; HDMF Transaction ID; PWD ID; Solo Parent ID; Senior Citizen’s ID; CSC Eligibility Card; Philippine Identification or PhilID Card; and examination fee of P700.

The Fire Officer Eligibility and Penology Officer Eligibility are both second-level qualifications designed for positions at the second level in fire protection and jail management and penology services, as well as other functionally related services.

However, these qualifications do not apply to ranks within the Philippine National Police.

Meanwhile, the Local Treasurer Eligibility is a second level eligibility appropriate for appointment only to local treasurer and assistant local treasurer positions.

It is also applicable to positions under in financial services that do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by any Bar/Board or special law.
