32 Bulacan colleges, universities join grand launch of BUCAA

Thirty-two out of the 70 public and private colleges and universities in Bulacan Province have registered for the Bulacan University and Collegiate Athletic Association (BUCAA) during its grand launching at Edsa Shangri-La Manila, Mandaluyong City on Thursday, March 14.

The executive order from the office of the governor, an order organizing BUCAA, was presented by Atty. Gerard Nelson Manalo, vice chairperson and legal officer of the association. 

Aiming to consolidate all programs and projects related to sports development and athletics for college students, the Provincial Youth and Sports Development Office (PYSDO) coordinated with universities and colleges in the province. 

As chairperson of the association, Gov. Daniel Fernando said the BUCAA is the first athletic association for universities and colleges that will further increase the skill and readiness of Bulacan athletes in sports especially with the imminent opening of the Bulacan Sports Academy.

Fernando said BUCAA is one of his great visions to make the youth of Bulacan more engaged in athletics. 

"It's good for the youths, aside from being a good exercise and strengthening the mind and body, it's also one of the best ways to avoid bad habits," he said.

The governor explained that there are many good athletes in the province and he wants more to hone their skills, which is why he is pushing for the opening of a Sports Academy. Various sports will be taught at the academy including basketball, softball, volleyball, and archery.

Fernando said there are many other competitions and fields of sports where the talent of Bulakenyo youth should be showcased.
