West Visayas State University probes March 10 entrance exam leak


ILOILO CITY – The West Visayas State University (WVSU) is conducting an investigation after the photo of a leaked page for the March 10, 2024 College Admission Test (CAT) circulated online.

“The WVSU administration is presently investigating this allegation and will provide updates to the public regarding the investigation’s outcome,” the WVSU said in a statement on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, March 13.

WVSU President Dr. Joselito Villaruz has formed an investigation committee to determine if there was indeed a leak and how it happened.

The university did not provide a timeline for the investigation.

“As to how long this investigation will take cannot yet be determined at this point,” said Dr. Hazel Palmares Villa, Director for WVSU Public Affairs and Marketing Communications.

“WVSU is committed to transparency in its dealings and will inform the public the moments the findings are in. Please bear with us as we proceed with the investigation,” Villa said.

WVSU said the entrance exam has 20,925 examinees, the biggest in school history so far.

A total of 11,600 took the exams at the WVSU main campus here while 9,325 took the test in satellite campuses in Calinog, Janiuay, Lambunao, and Pototan towns in Iloilo province.  The WVSU has a satellite campus in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
