The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has cautioned that registering for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) and obtaining a PhilID or ePhilID does not entitle individuals to receive cash assistance.

The PSA issued this clarification in response to social media posts spreading misinformation claiming that PhilSys is distributing cash aid to registrants.
In these false social media posts, some individuals have falsely stated that P5,000 in cash assistance would be provided to those who register for national ID.
“While the PhilID or ePhilID is presented as valid proof of identity in various transactions, including applying for benefits from the government, such benefits are granted based on the rules and regulations of the concerned agency,” the PSA said.
The PSA emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant against misleading information about PhilSys on social media and advised the public to avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing personal information in exchange for money.
If anyone comes across individuals or groups promoting such deceptive activities, the public is encouraged to report them through the official channels of PhilSys, which include the PhilSys hotline at 1388, the email address [email protected], and the official Facebook page at facebook.com/PSAPhilSysOfficial.
