Japan's new envoy in the Philippines has arrived in Manila.
Japanese Ambassador-designate Endo Kazuya landed in the country on Thursday, March 14, to assume the post left by former Japanese ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko.
Endo marked his upcoming years-long journey in the Philippines with video message to show his heartfelt appreciation of the honor bestowed upon him.
"Throughout my term as Director-General of the International Cooperation Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I had the distinct privilege of visiting the Philippines," he said as he looked back on his first experience with the country.
"Especially noteworthy was my opportunity to join Prime Minister Kishidaw Fumio's visit to the Philippines last November, where I witnessed firsthand the dynamic and vibrant nature of Japan-Philippine relations," he added.
Endo believed that the robust ties between the Philippines and Japan already set the stage for the "golden age" of their strategic partnership.
He said both countries' relations are now expanding in various areas—from economy and security to cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
"As I embark on this diplomatic journey in the Philippines, I look forward to collaborating with the Filipino community to further elevate these wonderful relations," he said.
"Together, let us aspire to a future defined by strengthened ties, shared prosperity, and enduring friendship," he added.
