Mayor Irene Montilla, Police Col. Rainerio de Chavez, Negros Occidental police chief, and Police Capt. Ar-jay Dangarang, Isabela police chief, led the groundbreaking of the P9.5-million three-story PNP building on Thursday, March 14.
Dangarang said the existing municipal police station in Barangay IV Poblacion was constructed in April 1991.
It took the local government and the town police force about a year to process the needed requirements for the project, according to Dangarang.
The project funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2024 is being built in a 724-square meter land where the existing police station is situated.
The new police station will have offices, reception desks, quarters with lockers for personnel, evidence room, radio room, armory, stock room, and a covered roof deck serving as multi-function hall. Dangarang said the detention cell can accommodate up to 20 individuals.
He said that it will boost the morale of the police force and the project reflects the adaptable and progressive capacity of lawmen in the municipality.
Montilla welcomed the project. “We are very grateful that this will be materialized. We’re really excited to have a new PNP building in Isabela,” Montilla said in her message during the groundbreaking rites.
Other areas in Negros Occidental are also having brand new police headquarters – Himamaylan and Bago cities and Manapla.
