Marcos arrives in Czech Republic for two-day state visit

PRAGUE, Czech Republic — President Marcos has began the second leg of his two-country swing in Central Europe as he arrived in Prague on Wednesday afternoon, March 13.

The Philippine Airlines flight PR001 carrying Marcos and his delegation arrived at the Vaclav Havel International Airport at 5:43 p.m. on Wednesday (Prague time).

Marcos will visit the Prague Castle on Thursday morning, March 14 (Prague time), where he will be accorded arrival honors before his meeting with Czech President Petr Pavel. They are set to hold a joint press conference in the afternoon.

The President will have a working lunch with the Czech Parliament-Senate President Miloš Vystrčil. He will next meet the President of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová.

On Friday, March 15, Marcos will attend the Philippine-Czech Business Forum organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to inform Czech businesses about the Philippines' viability as an investment destination.

He will also witness the signing of a joint communique on the establishment of a labor consultation mechanism that aims to enhance cooperation on the safe and orderly migration of Filipino workers, as well as provide enhanced protection of their rights and welfare.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Czech Republic is interested in getting more skilled and professional Filipino workers to participate in its labor market. It has already increased the annual quota for Filipinos from 5,000 to 10,000 starting May this year.  Presently, there are around 7,000 Filipinos in the Czech Republic.

Marcos will meet the members of the Filipino community in Prague before departing for Manila. He is set to arrive in Manila on Saturday afternoon (Philippine time).
