BERLIN, Germany — President Marcos said he is starting to get confused with former president Rodrigo Duterte's changing opinion about him, stressing he will try to make sense of his predecessor's remarks.

Marcos said this after Duterte criticized Marcos for pushing for charter change and for using his travels abroad to leisurely roam around.
In an interview with Manila-based reporters here in Berlin, the President said he would have to examine Duterte's comments further.
"Nako-confuse kasi ako kay PRRD (Duterte), papalit-palit, eh (I'm getting confused with PRRD because he's always changing his opinion)," he said on Wednesday afternoon (Germany time).
"I’ll have to examine it further...Tingnan ko muna kung ano ba talaga ang sinabi niya para maintindihan ko (I'll see what he really said so I can understand him)," he added.
"I think hindi ko talaga naintindihan kasi parang naiiba, bawat salita niya iba, eh (I really don't understand him because he's always changing). So, I will try to make sense of it," he continued.
Despite this, President Marcos said he is not taking Duterte's comments personally.
"Hindi ako namemersonal (I don't take things personally)," he said.
"Para sa akin, hindi naman madali, pero nahihiwalay ko yung trabaho at saka yung personal (For me, it's not easy but I'm able to separate work from personal issues). So, I don’t see a problem there," he added.
This was not the first time that the leaders, who were also allies, exchanged tirades. Duterte once accused Marcos of being a drug addict and Marcos responded by saying that perhaps it was the fentanyl that caused Duterte's comments.
