ILOILO CITY – The Department of Science and Technology is partnering with two universities to pilot a wind-turbine project in Concepcion, Iloilo.

DOST-Iloilo Provincial Director Engr. Sheila Oberio, DOST-6 head of Research and Development Section, CPU representatives, and NISU-AREC representatives meet Mayor Milliard Villanueva for the proposed wind-turbine project in Concepcion town, Iloilo province. (DOST-6)
The DOST is set to implement the Driving Advancement, Generating Access, and Transforming Small Island Communities Project (Project DAGAT) with Central Philippine University (CPU) and the Northern Iloilo State University-Affiliated Renewable Energy Center (NISU-AREC).
Project DAGAT will benefit small island-communities in Concepcion that still lacks connection to the main power grid as it can provide lighting and charging systems.
DOST-Iloilo Provincial Director Engr. Sheila Oberio, DOST-6 head of Research and Development Section, CPU representatives, and NISU-AREC representatives presented this week the plan to Concepcion Mayor Milliard Villanueva.
Project DAGAT also has a component on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) that enhances disaster preparedness and disaster response.
It is funded by the National Economic and Development Authority through its Innovation Grant Fund and it is aligned with NEDA’s long-term development plan known as “AmBisyon Natin 2040.”
