LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Legazpi and a popular mall here successfully held a fire drill on Wednesday, March 13, in line with Fire Prevention Month.
Madonna Rempillo, chief of operations of BFP-Legazpi, said the event sought to raise awareness about the causes, hazards, and dangers of fire.
She added that the activity serves as a training ground of the mall's fire brigade and rescue team as well as the personnel of the mall.

The drill was conducted before SM City Legazpi opened.
Employees, tenants, affiliates, the mall fire brigade, and the rescue team and other personnel simulated a scenario where magnitude-7.2 earthquake struck and caused fire and structural collapse on the second floor of the mall, near the carpark area, and two people were injured.
The BFP-Legazpi, with the fire brigade and search and rescue team of the mall, demonstrated their capabilities by rappelling from the second floor to the ground floor in rescuing injured victims.
Henrick Jefferson S. Ung, SM City-Legazpi assistant mall manager, said that the activity is part of their commitment to ensure safety for mall goers, its personnel, tenants, and other individuals during time of disasters.
The fire drill was also held in other branches of the mall nationwide to create awareness among tenants.
