The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman topped the EduRank rankings in 2024, leading 229 other universities in the country.

In its statement on Tuesday, March 12, UP said other UP System’s constituent universities were also included in the top 100 universities in the Philippines such as the UP Los Baños (rank 5), UP Manila (rank 6), UP Visayas (rank 11), UP Baguio (rank 28), and UP Mindanao (rank 48).
It also said that the constituent universities located in Quezon City had been the leading higher education institutions in the field of research concerning Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences.
“Based on an analysis of at least 500,000 citations from at least 58,000 academic publications, the EduRank rankings also take into consideration the prominence of a university’s alumni, as well as its reference database,” UP said.
“According to Unirank, 45% of the ranking is from the university’s research performance, while another 45% is from its non-academic performance. The remaining 10% is from the prominence of the higher education institution’s alumni,” it added.
Moreover, UP said 8,902 scientific papers, which were cited 91,432 times were published by UP Diliman.
UPD placed 374th out of 5,830 higher education institutions in Asia, while ranked 1,367th out of 14,131 higher educational institutions globally.
