Beware of false endorsements on social media, NKTI warns

The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) alerted the public on Tuesday, March 12, about a deceptive Facebook post linked to a certain Dr. Gavino Trono.

The NKTI pointed out that it does not support any products that make false claims about curing or preventing kidney and other diseases.

"We would like to warn the public of endorsements from certain groups, organizations, or private individuals claiming to be from the NKTI," it said.

The NKTI also clarified that Trono is "not affiliated" with the institute in any capacity, and he is neither an employee nor a medical staff member.

The institute urged the public to be cautious of endorsements from individuals or groups claiming to represent the NKTI.

"We are advising our patients and other stakeholders to visit only NKTI’s official channels such as its website and Facebook page for legitimate information about our services," the NKTI noted.
