Junk collector shot dead in Tondo; MPD hunts down suspect

Members of the Manila Police District (MPD) are hunting down a man who killed a junk collector in Tondo, Manila, on Sunday, March 10.

MPD identified the suspect as Marvin de Guzman.

Based on the investigation, the victim, Leonard Caintoy, had a drinking session with his friend in front of their house in Barangay 105, Tondo at around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The victim's live-in partner told police that Caintoy then went to the suspect, who was in the same area, and confronted him over his lost clothes.

During their argument, the suspect suddenly drew his gun and shot the victim in the body.

The suspect immediately fled while the victim was rushed to Gat Andres Bonifacio Hospital where he was declared dead at around 5:59 p.m.

Police said that a follow-up operation is still ongoing to arrest the suspect.
