Treñas said First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos told him no one is running in her family next year during a recent conversation.
“Na-istorya ko bala si First Lady, siling niya wala (I spoke to the First Lady. She said no one is running),” said the mayor in a press conference on Monday, March 11.
The First Family is reportedly making their presence felt in the province of Iloilo, long been a bailiwick of the Liberal Party (LP) and where the President did not win in the last elections.
The First Lady has been going back and forth here as a law professor at West Visayas State University (WVSU).
Treñas defended the First Lady when she started teaching last year.
She has roots in Iloilo and Negros Occidental. The First Lady is related to the landed clans of Araneta, Ledesma, and Cacho.
One of her sons has been rumored to be running for an elective post a year from now while a member of the First Family reportedly purchased a house here.
