Marcos arrives in Berlin

BERLIN, Germany — President Marcos has arrived in Germany Monday evening (Germany time), officially kicking off his two-country swing in Central Europe this week.

The Philippine Airlines Flight PR001 carrying the President and his delegation arrived at the Brandenburg International Airport in Berlin at 9:49 p.m. (Germany time).

The President is set to have a full day on March 12, starting with his arrival at the Chancellery for his meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in the morning.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) earlier said that the two leaders would discuss of common interests such as defense, labor, climate change, business, and trade, among others.

In the afternoon, Marcos will attend the Philippine-German Business Forum, an event organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), to promote the Philippines as an investment hub.

He is likewise set to have business meetings before meeting the members of the Filipino community in Berlin in the evening.

President Marcos will depart for Prague, the second leg of his five-day trip to Europe, on Wednesday afternoon.

Marcos is the first Philippine president to make an official trip to Berlin in 10 years since the late former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III in September 2014.
