Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II has ordered the prioritization of women in the conduct of the free Theoretical Driving Course (TDC), which is part of the outreach program of the agency.
Mendoza said his order is part of the celebration of the National Women’s Month for the entire March as he stressed the role of women in the road safety campaign amid the growing number of female Filipino motorists across the country.
“This is the LTO’s way of recognizing the role of Filipino women in the society, especially as the government’s partners in ensuring the safety of all road users,” said Mendoza in his order to LTO Regional Directors and District Office heads.
Last week, Mendoza graced the awarding of Scholarship Certificates for Theoretical Driving Course for Women to mark the International Women's Day on March 8 in Naga City in Bicol.
The free TDC program of the LTO is part of the continuous outreach program of the agency wherein its personnel would go down to the barangay level to hold seminars on road safety.
A TDC certificate is one of the major requirements in driver's license application.
The program paves the way for driver’s license applicants to save at least P1,000, the normal charge for TDC in driving schools.
Last week, the LTO also held free TDC to a total of 913 students of Aurelio Mendoza Memorial Colleges in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
“This endeavor aims to enhance students' understanding of road safety and reduce expenses associated with obtaining a student permit by providing complimentary TDC certificates,” said Mendoza.
