President Marcos has proven himself to be "best salesman" of the Philippines based on the investment pledges he has collected from his trips abroad.
Thus, said Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 3rd district Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. in a statement Sunday, March 9.
“The President always brings home the bacon. He is our country’s best salesman and principal OFW (overseas Filipino workers) welfare protection advocate,” Gonzales said.
He said the President would have obtained more foreign investments if the entry of foreign capital into the country and foreign ownership of domestic businesses were not restricted by the economic provisions of the existing Constitution.
“I think this is one reason why he has been seriously pushing for the amendment of the restrictive economic provisions. The lifting of foreign equity and ownership limitations will strengthen the investment mission part of his foreign trips,” said the ranking congressman.

Gonzales is one of the authors of Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No.7, which seeks to lift such economic prohibitions in the 1987 Charter.
The House of Representatives, which Gonzales belongs to, is poised to approve the economic Cha-cha measure on third and final reading later this month.
Gonzales added that President Marcos deserves the support of the entire nation in the quest to attract more foreign direct investments (FDIs) and protect the country’s interests in meeting foreign leaders and businessmen.
The Chief Executive is slated to visit Germany and the Czech Republic later this month.
