Pascual affirms DTI's support for women entrepreneurs
Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual said the agency is steadfast in its continued support for women entrepreneurs and women in the business sector.
“The DTI under the Marcos Jr. administration stands with you — Together, we can build a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous Bagong Pilipinas through support, guidance, and inspiration. Your success is also our nation's success,” said Pascual during a Go Negosyo event.
Pascual cited a survey conducted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) that stated that most female MSMEs lack registration beyond the barangay permit, indicating that many women may not be encouraged to move forward with their business because of their struggles with registering their businesses, as well as difficulty accessing financial services.
“Let me extend a helping hand to all Pinay entrepreneurs navigating the constantly changing tides of business,” he added, citing the agency’s programs for women such as the RISE UP program and IDEAS Project.
RISE UP is a multipurpose loan program that can help small businesses access capital and credit. P1.66 billion worth of loans have been disbursed to 6,500 women-led micro, small, medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) in 2023.
On the other hand, the IDEAS Project aims to make Filipino entrepreneurs digi-ready by providing e-business training toolkits and modules until 2026, as part of the enhancement of women MSMEs participation in the Southeast Asian digital economy.
During the Go Negosyo event, an awarding ceremony was also held to honor the Inspiring Filipina Entrepreneurs Awardees.
“Your respective journeys have been remarkable. You faced the many challenges of entrepreneurship with much grit and perseverance. I believe your stories need to be told repeatedly to as many people as possible. Beyond success, your stories are stories of overcoming obstacles and enduring hardships. Beyond this, your stories are those of empowerment. Your journey also shows how tenacity, flexibility, consistency, and creativity could keep you going a long way,” said Pascual.
