LIPA CITY, Batangas – A 51-year-old barangay councilor was shot dead on Saturday afternoon, March 9, in Barangay Pag-olingin West here.
Police identified the victim as Marilyn Escartin from San Juan, Batangas.
Investigation said the victim was walking when the suspect, alias Joey, a councilor of Barangay Pag-olingin West, approached and shot her.
She died on the spot and the suspect fled.
Lawmen are conducting follow-up investigation and combing surveillance footages in the area.
