P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon has a suggestion that could one-up Republic Act (RA) No.10868, better known as the Centenarians Act of 2016.
Signed on June 23, 2016, the law entitles all Filipinos who reach 100 years old and above, whether living in the Philippines or abroad, a cash gift worth P100,000.
But what if the big bonanza of the celebrated law becomes easier to reach? Here's Guanzon's pitch:
"Ano ang life expectancy ng Filipinos? If 86, then sana ang 100K ibigay at 86 not 100. #p3pwd ," she wrote in an X post last March 2.
(What is the life expectancy of Filipinos? If 86, then they should give the 100K at 86 years old and not 100.)
This sounds like it would gain a lot of traction in public, but only time will tell if such a measure gets pursued in the legislature.
President Marcos recently signed RA No.11982, which expanded the Centenarians Act to provide P10,000 cash incentives for seniors aged 80, 85, 90, and 95.
