Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran wowed fans during his "Mathematics" Asia tour presented by Ovation Productions, marking his return to the stage after a six-year hiatus.

Held at SMDC concert grounds in Pasay City on March 9, Pinoy fans from different places filled the open field concert grounds, ready to sing their hearts out with Ed.

Before the opening performance by Calum Scott and Filipino band Ben&Ben, the event became more exciting when an eight-minute timer appeared on the screen.

At precisely 8:15 PM, the lights dimmed as Ed took center stage and began his show with his song "Tide" from his Equals album. The venue was filled with the loudest cheers and screams as he played his guitar riffs.

As the next song started playing, Ed took the time to express his heartfelt gratitude to his beloved fans for giving him such a warm come back.

"It's been seven years since I've been here and I'm so excited to be back. Thank you for coming out. I'm going to play songs, and I hope you like it," Ed said.

Then he sang "Blow," "I'm a Mess," and his all-time fan favorite, "A-team." Before performing, Ed reminisced about his first visit to the Philippines in 2015, when he was taken aback by the size of his fandom.

"Thinking at that time, that was the craziest fun gig that I first played here in the Philippines," Ed shared.

The night went on as Ed sang some of his greatest hits including "Thinking out Loud", "Lego House," and "Photograph."

One hit song led to another. He continued with some of his upbeat classics like "Galway Girl," where he was joined by his violinist Alicia Enstrom. It was followed by his song "Sing."

The British singer and songwriter also made a mash-up of his collaborated singles including "Peru," "Beautiful People," and "I Don't Care."

He also performed the song "Love Yourself", which he wrote for another award-winning artist, Justin Bieber.

Keeping his energy up, Ed did a powerful performance of the songs "Bloodstream" and "You Need, I Don't Need You."

Towards the end of his performance, Ed expressed gratitude to his fans for attending his show despite the traffic on a Saturday night.

"Thank you for taking the time, and sailing the traffic to get all the way here. I just wanna say thank you so much for taking your Saturday night to watch me play. I'm so happy to be back in the Philippines, I won't leave it at 7 years next time, I promise," Ed said.

Ed closed the concert with the songs, "Shape of You" and "Bad Habits" with fireworks in the background.

My first time watching Ed and listening to his songs had a profound impact on me during tough times.

Giving his fans a night to remember, Ed invited brothers Miguel and Paolo Benjamin of Ben&Ben as they sang along to the song "Maybe the Night."

"I love coming back to Manila and the Philippines, what I love doing is discovering local, which is massive for you guys and for me coming here, I just love hearing new stuff and I heard this band Ben&Ben, who I loved and I asked them if they wouldn't mind coming on stage to sing this song," Ed said before they performed.

It was a surreal moment for Paolo and Miguel as they shared on their Instagram post that Ed had been a huge influence on their music. The first cover song that they did was Ed Sheeran's song, "Perfect."
