Surigao del Sur 2nd district Rep. Johnny Pimentel has predicted "smooth sailing" for Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Ralph Recto's confirmation before the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA).
“It will likely be a breeze for Secretary Recto," Pimentel, the CA assistant minority leader, said in a statement Sunday, March 10.
We expect him to be accorded the courtesy of a swift confirmation, considering that he used to be a member of both the House of Representatives and the Senate,” Pimentel noted.
The bicameral CA is composed of 12 members each from the House and the Senate, with the Senate President as ex-officio presiding officer.
It is scheduled to deliberate on Recto’s designation as DOF secretary on Wednesday, March 13.

He was supposed to serve another three-year term at the House in the current 19th Congress from 2022 to 2025, but cut short his term when he was appointed by President Marcosto lead the DOF on Jan. 12.
Recto, a deputy speaker in the 19th Congress replaced Benjamin Diokno, who has since moved back to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) as one of the six members of the Monetary Board.
