Cops uproot P5.5-M marijuana in Kalinga


TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Police uprooted 27,500 fully grown marijuana worth P5.5 million from two plantations in a two-day eradication operation in  Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 to 10.

POLICE uproot fully grown marijuana plants in a 2,000-square meter plantation in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga on Saturday, March 9.  

Police Capt. Ruff Manganip, Kalinga police spokesperson, said operating units on Saturday discovered 20,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants in a 2,000-square meter land in Barangay Loccong valued at P4 million.

The next day, lawmen found another plantation nearby with a land area of 750-square meters and 7,500 fully grown marijuana plants worth P1.5 million.

Manganip said these were burned onsite and samples were brought to the provincial police headquarters for documentation and proper disposition.

Police Col. Freddie M. Lazona, Kalinga police director, lauded lawmen for a successful eradication operation.

Lawmen are conducting follow-up investigation to identify the cultivators.
