Veteran actress Vilma Santos-Recto took the spotlight in a Department of Finance (DOF) video that made waves on its social media platforms on Monday, March 11.
Known as the "Star for All Seasons" and the wife of Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto, Santos-Recto's appearance in the one-minute DOF video paid tribute to the achievements and resilience of women.
"I am a woman, and I can play multiple roles all at the same time," declared Santos-Recto in the video.
The video then showcased a series of photos, including iconic moments of her portraying "Darna," the famous female superhero from Filipino comic books.
Delving into Santos-Recto's career as a public servant, the video highlighted her roles as the mayor of Lipa City, as well as her tenures as governor and district representative of Batangas.
The video also featured some intimate snapshots of Santos-Recto with her husband, capturing tender moments like a shared kiss, along with an image of her embracing her role as a devoted mother.
“Tayo ay babae, at marami tayong magagandang katangian,” she said. “Yung inaakala nating hindi kaya, nagagawa pa natin ng mas higit pa.”
[We are women, and we have many beautiful qualities. What we think we cannot do, we can actually accomplish even more.]
“Mabuhay ang kababaihan,” Santos-Recto concluded.
Besides Santos-Recto, the short video created to celebrate Women’s Month also featured women from the DOF, including Finance Assistant Secretary Glenda R. Rumohr-Figueroa from the privatization group, who is expecting.
