House Speaker Martin Romualdez has hailed the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as among the most trusted and top-performing government agencies in the country based on the results of the latest OCTA Research survey.
"As Speaker, I express my sincerest gratitude to the men and women of the AFP for their unwavering service and sacrifice," Romualdez said in a statement Sunday, March 10.
"I am particularly heartened to learn that awareness of the AFP has reached a universal mark of 100 percent among adult Filipinos, increasing from 89 percent in October 2023. This universal awareness is a clear indication of the AFP's prominent role and presence in our national consciousness," he said.
"More importantly, the survey results show an overwhelming majority, 86 percent of the respondents, are satisfied with the AFP and its accomplishments, maintaining a high net satisfaction rating of +84. This level of satisfaction is consistent with the previous rating of +83 in October 2023, demonstrating steady confidence and trust in our military institution," he noted.
"These results underscore the AFP's status as one of the most trusted and top-performing government agencies in 2023, according to OCTA Research," underscored Romualdez.
The House leader highlighted these results in the backdrop of the internal and external threats to national security that the AFP continues to valiantly address despite its limited capabilities.
In this regard, the Leyte 1st district congressman reiterated the House's support for the AFP.
"We in the House of Representatives reaffirm our commitment to supporting the AFP in its mission to defend our country. We will continue to work towards providing our military with the necessary resources and legislation to ensure they can perform their duties effectively and continue to garner the high level of public trust and satisfaction they so rightfully deserve," he said.
Romualdez further said that the survey results reaffirm the vital role of the armed forces in national security and peacekeeping, as well as reflects the deep trust and respect they have earned from the Filipino people.
