New NAIAx access ramp opens

A new access ramp at the NAIA Expressway (NAIA) was opened on Friday, March 1, by San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Infrastructure to allow more access for motorists to the airport and other nearby areas.

SMC President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ramon S. Ang said the 800-meter access ramp at Tramo, Pasay City will cater to motorists using EDSA southbound from Makati or northbound from Entertainment City to ease traffic entering and exiting the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). 

“This Tramo access ramp provides another option for motorists heading to the airport, and other areas in Paranaque City and Cavite province. We believe it can help relieve overall traffic congestion in the area, and improve traffic flow within the vicinity of the airport,” he said.

“San Miguel will continue to pursue these vital infrastructure projects, in close coordination with our government, because of their benefits to our people and economy. Through these projects, we also create jobs, improve the mobility of goods and services, and make our cities and regions more primed for growth. All these serve to support and sustain our growing economy,” added Ang.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan lauded SMC’s efforts in improving the infrastructure, and added that the agency is conducting studies on how to further improve traffic flow to the airport.

“The Department of Public Works and Highways will always be there to support and implement these projects to improve traffic flow especially here in Metro Manila,” he added.

The 11-kilometer NAIAx is an elevated toll road connecting the EDSA Skyway to three NAIA terminals, the Entertainment City in Pasay, Macapagal Boulevard, Sucat Road in Paranaque City, and roads to Cavite province.

SMC Infrastructure is the concessionaire of the NAIAx, granted by the DPWH.  Aside from NAIAx, it also handles the construction, management, and operation of the Skyway System, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR, Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), Boracay Airport, MRT-7 rail project, and the Bulacan Bulk Water Supply Project.
