Marcos names senior deputy ES Guevara as SEC commissioner

President Marcos has moved Senior Deputy Executive Secretary (ES) Hubert Guevara from the Office of the President (OP) to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as one of its commissioners.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced Guevara's appointment on Feb. 29.
Guevara, who was a partner at ACALaw, is not a stranger to the SEC. He served as the director of its Compliance and Enforcement Department in 2004.
The SEC, currently chaired by Emilio Aquino, is under the Department of Finance (DOF).
The SEC has jurisdiction and supervision over all corporations, partnerships, or associations that are the grantees of primary franchises or a license or permit issued by the government.
It is tasked to formulate policies and recommendations on issues concerning the securities market and advise Congress and other government agencies on all aspects of the securities market.
The SEC has the authority to approve, reject, suspend, revoke, or require amendments to registration statements, and registration and licensing applications.
