As part of the Women's Month celebration, women's group Gabriela on Friday, March 1, joined the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) in its 9th annual “Purple Day of Action.”

"Today, the first day of Women's month, we commemorate the millions of women who have invested and are investing time and effort to better our world," Gabriela chairperson Gert Libang said in a statement.
Under the theme "Investing in Women: Development of the Nation," Libang highlighted that March 2024 signifies Gabriela's 40 years of dedicated efforts in supporting and empowering women nationwide.
“Since 1984, it has organized Filipino women and enabled them to stand up and fight for their rights as women, as members of a sector and as citizens,” she said.
Furthermore, the chairperson urged all women to come together and stand united on March 8, International Working Women's Day, to advocate for livelihood, rights, and sovereignty.
“Jobs, higher wages, low prices, better social services, less and not more foreign control of our economy. These are our needs, not charter change!" she said.
