James Yap has officially signed with Blackwater in what could be the last hurrah for the two-time PBA Most Valuable Player.

Yap inked a one-year deal, which came as an early birthday present before he turns 42 on Thursday next week. He signed the pact with no less than Bossing team owner Dioceldo Sy in attendance on Friday, Feb. 9, at the Ronac Gym.
“Join us in welcoming our newest addition to the team, James Yap! Let's dribble our way to victory together!,” said the Bossing in the announcement post.
The seven-time PBA champion is expected to provide the veteran presence for the young Bossing squad especially following the departure of Baser Amer and Rashawn McCarthy and the injury to Jvee Casio.
Yap, who was promised to be given enough minutes by the Blackwater management, is set to join hands with Troy Rosario in leading a youthful squad that features the likes of Ato Ular, James Kwekuteye, and Clifford Jopia in the upcoming All-Filipino Cup.
He was coming off a seven-year stint with Rain or Shine although was hardly utilized last conference as head coach Yeng Guiao opted to go for his younger guards.
The concurrent San Juan City councilor is also set for a reunion of sorts with Blackwater head coach Jeff Cariaso who was part of Tim Cone’s coaching staff when he was still calling the shots with B-Meg, and later on San Mig, Yap’s former team.
As he begins a new chapter with his new team, Yap had earlier announced that he is dropping his iconic No. 18 jersey for No.15.
