Valenzuela LGU breaks ground for 3 academic centers
The Valenzuela City government on Thursday, Feb. 8, broke ground for the construction of three Valenzuela City Academic Center for Excellence (ValACE) buildings in Barangays Gen. T. De Leon, Marulas, and Mapulang Lupa.
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian led the groundbreaking and capsule-laying ceremonies for the soon-to-rise learning buildings that will provide more proximate and accessible learning spaces for Valenzuelanos from all walks of life.
Each building will feature a mini library, a study Hall with self-study cubicles and a communal review lounge, a computer laboratory, 50-seating capacity training rooms, an 80-100 pax capacity multi-purpose hall, a cafeteria, an administrative office, and a parking area.

Valenzuela already has its first ValACE in Barangay Malinta, which has the city library that garnered a total of 440,883 visits since 2023.
The local government said that Mayor Gatchalian has envisioned transforming Valenzuela into a “Reading City" and promoting the love of learning amongst Valenzuelanos.
"For the city, the library was built to promote lifelong learning and literacy for all and to develop a revolutionary learning space that is accessible, reliable, and inclusive with the ultimate goal of helping students reach their dreams," the local government said.
"While the three other buildings are in the works, the Valenzuela City Academic Center for Excellence (ValACE) in Barangay Malinta continuously offers educational programs and services alongside its library resources," it added.
The facility is located on A. Pablo Street corner MacArthur Highway, Malinta, and is open to the public for free from Mondays to Sundays, 9 a.m. to 12 midnight.
"Valenzuela City takes education earnestly. As the city continuously enriches the Valenzuelano youth and makes literacy attainable for everyone, this initiative is also a call for neighboring cities in Metro Manila to establish more libraries in their local communities — working toward a brighter and more promising future for our youth," the local government said.
